Tulime
Tulime, associated partner of REVEAL - Raising Effectiveness of Volunteering in Europe through Adult Learning
Tulime Onlus is an Italian association of volunteers cooperating in Tanzania and Nepal. Tulime, a Swahili word that means "Let's cultivate", promotes the culture of sharing and co-development, ecology and respect of humain rights, daily life improvement and awareness.

Tulime is a "small and light" association which employes few resources in its inner structure in order to use them to carry out its activities. It is structured as a network widespread all around Italy through small groups of people, so its flexibility and dynamism become basical features and guarantee a strong and efficient action. In addition to this, the association carries out a new and peculiar cooperation strategy, that is the adoption, by a single group, of a whole village rather than a single person, so as to give its support for a whole community. Tulime works at cooperation by being consistent to some founding values which incisively drive its policy and actions.

Tulime's projects are under the supervision of a local skilled staff as well.

Our lasting relationship with people of the villages where we carried out our early projects let us involve even other communities nearby: our action’s efficiency is the best means of communication among local communities and donors. Representatives of our projects are right the communities of every village (Tanzanian of Nepalese) working together as associations in order to find out needs and best solutions. The name of the representative association of Tulime in Tanzania is Mawaki, (Shirika la maendeleo ya watu wa Kilolo, that is Association for the Development of Kilolo District), born on January 30th 2004. Our representative association in Nepal is Hira Nepal (Helping Hands for reconstrution & rural area development Nepal). Our main projects and action fields are:
  • Education: structural actions (building of Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools, dormitories for students and teachers residences, toilet facilities); scholarships; training courses for young people.
  • Social-health: support to the dispensaries; support for those suffering from AIDS; sick people transport; projects on behalf of orphans; support for convicts; active citizenship courses.
  • Building and management of forest nurseries; making and seeding forest fields; realization of the carpentry.
  • Farming: support for breeders; building of tanks for cattle cleaning and disinfestation; building of byres; beekeeping.
  • Specific projects: micro-credit bank “Tulime Sacco’s Bank”; realization and support to small enterprises (tailor’s shops, mills); development of water supply in the villages.
In addition to this, Tulime has arranged some aware tourism packages based on local communities respect and environment care. This way, it offers a chance to spend a period where projects are carried out and establish a close relationship between different communities.
